
The State Tiger Strike Force, Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal) was constituted under the orders of the Forest Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, vide Order No. F 15-36/2007/10/2 dated 12.12.2008 and 17.06.2022, and under this, four regional units were established in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Shivpuri. These units were known as the Anti-Poaching Squad prior to the order dated 12.12.2008.
Their area of operation includes not only Protected Areas (Tiger Reserves, National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries) but also areas outside the Protected Zones (Territorial Forest Divisions). The operational jurisdiction of these units extends across the entire state of Madhya Pradesh, and these units function under the control of the Wildlife Headquarters.
The wildlife conservation work carried out by these units has been appreciated not only at the state and national levels but also internationally. For this, commendation has also been received from INTERPOL.
Due to the high-level wildlife investigation work carried out by the personnel posted in these units, they have been honored with awards at the state, national, and international levels. These include the Clark R. Bavin Wildlife Law Enforcement Award, PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Tiger Friend Award, RBS Earth Hero Award, Fateh Singh Rathore Memorial Conservation Award, Wildlife Service Award conferred by the Sanctuary Nature Foundation, along with several other national and state-level awards.
